Mickaël Eskinazi
Mickaël’s Bio
Psychiatrist, Writer
Hi there! I’m Mickael Eskinazi, a psychiatrist and psychologist based in Geneva, Switzerland. My journey into the fascinating world of altered states of consciousness has been both a professional and personal passion.
Right now, I’m working as a Psychiatrist Assistant at HUG, Belle-Idée. These days, I’m focusing more on clinical care and writing than on research. I work primarily with psychotic patients and social care, finding great joy in helping people directly and sharing my insights through writing to make complex scientific ideas accessible to everyone.
I’ve had the chance to study at some amazing institutions. I earned a Master's degree in Psychology from the Catholic University of Paris and a Master of Sciences in Neuroscience from Lyon II University. My medical studies took place at Paris University, where I gained experience in various fields like neurology, pediatrics, and intensive care.
My career has been quite an adventure. I co-founded the OpenMind Institute in Paris, where we used virtual reality and physiological electronics to create programs to help with anxiety and post-traumatic stress. I’ve also worked as a research assistant at the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center and the Center of Sleep at Hospital Hotel Dieu, diving deep into neurophysiology and sleep disorders. My research has revolved around intuition, sleep, and aesthetic chills, all closely tied to my deep interest in consciousness and altered states of consciousness.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about old texts and philosophy, which shape my views on psychiatry and neuroscience. I also love theater, philosophy, and science fiction. When I’m not immersed in these, you might find me climbing, surfing, or hiking because psychedelics mind is for me totally linked with contemplation in nature and using the body to merge with nature.
I’m thrilled to be part of the ALPS community and look forward to contributing to the advancement of psychedelic area.
