Les psychédéliques pour réduire la souffrance humaine.
Ce mercredi 26 octobre 2022 à 18h30, l'association pour la Recherche Psychédélique de l'Université de Genève (ARP) accueillera deux invités concernés par l'utilisation de psychédéliques à des fins thérapeutiques.
Jonathan Leighton est un stratège en éthique, un écrivain, un défenseur du changement social et un orateur public qui se consacre à l'atteinte d'un monde meilleur et plus empathique. Son travail se concentre sur la promotion de politiques et de plans pour la société qui sont alignés avec une pensée éthique profonde. Depuis juin 2016, il est le directeur exécutif de l'Organisation pour la prévention de la souffrance intense (OPIS), un groupe de réflexion et d'action basé en Suisse qu'il a fondé pour promouvoir la prévention de la souffrance humaine et non-humaine en tant que priorité éthique mondiale primordiale. La présentation de Jonathan portera sur les objectifs et les activités de son organisation (OPIS) et sur son travail sur les psychédéliques dans le traitement des maux de tête.
Notre deuxième intervenant s'appelle Juan Pablo l'Huillier. Juan-Pablo, après une douleur intense au visage il y a 2 ans, a été diagnostiqué avec un syndrome SUNCT (pour Short-lasting Unilateral Neuralgiform headache attacks with Conjunctival injection and Tearing), une maladie rare causant des douleurs brèves et terribles mais très fréquentes qui détruisent la qualité de vie des patients. Désespéré mais soutenu par l'organisation OPIS, il a commencé à chercher de l'aide en utilisant des substances psychédéliques comme le LSD et l'Ayahuasca. Juan-Pablo nous racontera son histoire, sa détresse face au manque de traitement disponible jusqu'à l'utilisation de l'ayahuasca, qui lui a permis d'améliorer sa condition de vie.
Les deux conférences dureront environ 20 minutes chacune et seront données en anglais, mais il y aura la possibilité de poser des questions ou de discuter en français avec les intervenants. Les conférences seront suivies d'un temps de questions-réponses et d'un apéritif. Cet événement est gratuit et ouvert à tous.

This Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 18h30. L’association pour la Recherche Psychédélique de l’Université de Genève(ARP) will host two guests closely concerned with the use of psychedelics for therapeutic purposes.
Jonathan Leighton is an ethical strategist, writer, social change advocate and public speaker, dedicated to the goal of a gentler, more compassionate world. His work focuses on promoting policies and blueprints for society that are aligned with deep ethical thinking. Since June 2016, he is the Executive Director of the Organisation for the Prevention of Intense Suffering (OPIS), a Swiss-based think-and-do tank he founded to promote the prevention of human and non-human suffering as their overriding global ethical priority. Jonathan’s talk will cover the goals and activity of his organization (OPIS) and their work on psychedelics for cluster headaches.
Our second speaker is called Juan-Pablo L'Huillier. Juan-Pablo, after a severe pain in the face 2 years ago, was diagnosed with a SUNCT syndrome(for Short-lasting Unilateral Neuralgiform headache attacks with Conjunctival injection and Tearing), a rare disease causing brief terrible pain but very frequent that destroys the quality of life of the patients. Desperate but supported by the OPIS organization, he began to look for help using psychedelic substances such as LSD and ayahuasca. Juan-Pablo will tell us his story, his distress in front of the lack of treatment available to the use of ayahuasca, which allowed him to improve his life condition. Both talks will last approximately 20 minutes and will be given in English, however there will be the possibility to ask questions or discuss in French with the speakers.
The talks will be followed by a Q-A time and an apero. This event is free and open to everyone.
