~ Aliveness Task ~
~ We invite you to participate in our online pilot task ~
We, the ‘Psychedelic Research & Therapy Development’ group at the University of Zurich, designed a novel behavioral task paradigm with which we want to measure the felt sense of aliveness that you experience when seeing objects, people, plants, animals, or landscapes.
In order to use this task in future studies, we need to evaluate it first via an online platform. Thus, we would really appreciate your help and would be happy if you are willing to run this experiment at home. This task is best conducted with a pc or laptop with common internet browsers (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, …). You will rate several images based on three questions, i.e. every image is rated three times according to one of the questions.
In total, the duration of the task is around 15-20 min. There are three versions of the task that come with different images or stimuli but have the same overall structure.
You can randomly choose one of the three versions and should only do one of them.
We will also collect some demographic data that is necessary to better interpret the results from the survey.
There is a possibility to earn 20 CHF for participating in this experiment. Once data collection is done, we will pick three random winners that each receive 20 CHF.
To be able to earn this prize, we need your email address to contact you. You can give your email on the last page of the experiment. If you decide to do so, please note that complete anonymity of your participation is not be possible anymore. We will not use your email address for any other purpose than contacting you in case you were selected as one of the winners. All email addresses will be removed from the raw data before analyzing them and will be completely deleted after the data collection phase has ended.
If you prefer not to share your email address and stay anonymous, just leave the corresponding field empty. This will not affect the experiment.
You can at any time decide to stop the experiment, as described when you start the task. If you decide to do so, none of your data will be stored.
If you would like to participate in the experiment, you could simply follow one of the three links below.
Thank you for your participation and we hope you will enjoy our experiment!
